Limelight hydrangea is a staple in my small cutting garden.
Little limelight hydrangea pruning. With pruning it can be kept even more compact. Its bright bloom coloration makes it an excellent choice for cut flower gardens and can be used fresh or dried. Keep the mulch 6 from the stems at all times. Limelight hydrangeas are known for their sturdy stems which keep those flowers aloft in all but the stormiest weather.
They do need a lot of room. Just edit the blossom. Limelight hydrangeas only bloom on new wood so any heavy pruning or cutting back must be done in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges since pruning at any other time of the year. Department of agriculture plant hardiness zones 7 and 8. Limelight hydrangeas hydrangea paniculata are among the more forgiving members of the hydrangea family with regard to pruning. Mulch the surrounding soil with organic mulch. A single well grown shrub can grow 8 tall by 8 wide.
Water regularly during the growing season for evenly moist soil. A newer variety of hydrangea paniculata won t require as much pruning to keep it smaller. Remove any dead damaged or diseased stems whenever observed. Plant in a wide hole as deep as the soil in the pot.
